Dear Suze Q. One of our girls group only dates married men. She's on her 3rd since we formed 5 years ago. She tells stories meant to shock, but sickens me. The group has mixed reactions about this violation of the Girl Code. When I asked her flat out why she’d do this to another woman, even someone she didn’t know, she seemed surprised -like I was an idiot because everyone did it. Do they?
Dear Nobel, The unwritten Girl Code has been a moral standard forever. It’s ingrained in early teen years to promote solidarity, respect, and loyalty among women worldwide. Your friend who abuses the code may do so for several reasons -all of them shitty: the affair feeds her ego; she's excited by the risk of getting caught; turning a single man into husband material takes effort and patience; she has no respect for the G.C, other women, or societal/golden rule of treat others the way you want to be treated. Don't trust her in a pinch. -SQ
