Dear S.Q. My new guy is a very black and white thinker. To him, the world is simple like his career as an accountant and neat-and-tidy lifestyle. He’s pretty easy-going unless things are grey or there’s multiple possibilities, then he gets a mind freeze. Planning a simple vacation is impossible. What’s up?

Dear Grey, Your guy has problems with ambiguity, defined as inexact, vague, and uncertain meaning that has choices of interpretation, understandings, meanings. Do you know what I mean? No, of course not, because my ? was ambiguous leaving you wondering what I mean. Help him unfreeze by: A) break down possibilities to baby-size, B) investigation each one further, C) get clarification if needed. Ex: Camping trip: A) to national park or beach; B) which one; C) are camp site available. -SQ
