Dear Suze Q. My bff is in her 60s, looks 30ish, and a damn prude. We loved guys and sex in our 20s before we both married, had families, and divorced. I’m dating again and fabulously happy but when her husband dumped her with no explanation, she’s never recovered. She refuses to date or talk about it. Says she’s got to take care of her aging parent (who has a full-time caregiver), or working (tho semi-retired). What’s the deal? Should I keep pushing?
Dear Pushy, Give up. She’s refused your help, so respect her decision. Whether she’s happy or not is not your problem to solve. Maybe her divorce left her terrified of intimacy and commitment, maybe it’s something else. Either way, stop intruding. If she wants your help, she’ll tell you. -SQ
