Dear Suze Q. I’ve been dating a sweetheart for a few months and just discovered he exaggerates things that really are not important. We’re in our 50s and both work. I make more money and own my home. He said he is a manager and owns his house, but I’ve checked him out and neither are true. Everything else is great, so what should I do?
Dear What To Do. He's a sweetheart and that his exaggerations are only about unimportant things? What if he’s a conman, and total slimeball? You’ve caught him in two major lies, yet you minimize the seriousness, why? Realize that dishonesty is the foundation of your new relationship. You can continue to live in fantasyland and deceive yourself that he’s a sweetheart, or come to grips that he’s 50, and probably a compulsive liar. -SQ
