Sandwich Generation

Dear Suze, I’m almost 50, divorced a few years ago, and just joined a dating site. I’m embarrassed to explain to my dates that I still work full-time, see or call my aging parents daily, and my adult kids come over unannounced to raid the refrigerator or ask for $20. Looking for my golden years 

Dear Looking, You represent the “sandwich generation” that still supports your parents and children -parents emotionally, and adult children somewhat financially. Pew 2022 Research found that more than half of American 40-year-olds constitute this group, so others shouldn’t be surprised by your obligations. Get excited about dating and romance -dress up, fantasize, remember how to flirt. And immediately, tell your kids no more dropping by without calling first. -SQ
