Dear Suze Q. I've been dating a high-powered lawyer. I enjoy that we go to many formal events, but he makes himself the center of attention. When relaxing, he finds it hard to unwind so we do lots of activities and have great sex. It bothers me that he talks trash about his colleagues and can be self-centered. I'm kind to others and love to listen to their stories. He seems to always want something in return and is impatient. Is there a future here?
Dear Future Seeker. Is he kind to waiters? If not, say farewell. If yes, is he ALWAYS kind to the elderly, and the vulnerable? If yes again, maybe his bad behavior can be fixed. Maybe he can learn to not insult others, but self-centeredness is a deep-seated trait not likely to change. Make a list of 10 reasons to stay and 10 to leave and see which feel right. -SQ
