Dear Suz, I can’t get rid of this guy that I met on a dating app. I gave him my personal number and the first few dates were wine, dine, and fun sex. Now I get “wat up” calls after midnight, and texts all hours of the day just to check in. I’ll kiss this frog goodbye, but what about the next guy? Text only doesn’t cut it with someone new. I need to hear their voice before I meet them.
Dear Audible. You’ve hit on a very real and common complaint. Match, eharmony, and and others provide users with virtual phone numbers. Give this number to wannabe princes that forwards texts and calls to your real number, or block them as you will. Phone companies can add a 2nd line to your existing cell phone, just for anonymity, but it’s pricey. -SQ
