Dear Suze, My fiancé’s ex-wife called to warn me he was controlling, cheated throughout their 10 year marriage, and threatened to hurt her but never did. I told my fiancé. He got furious and threw a glass at the wall. He apologized immediately, denying he ever hurt her but they argued a lot, and he cheated, because he wanted kids and she didn’t. He forbade me to talk to her again. I’m rattled.
Dear Rattled, and well you should be. She said he was controlling, and then he FORBADE you = strike #1; she said he cheated, and he agreed and justified his behavior without remorse = strike #2. He was violence in front of you, and admitted a history of anger “a lot” = strike #3. Do you really think it’s safe to have children with this man, or marry him? You’ve been warned.
