Dear S.Q. I was a rotten husband to both of my wives, and a mediocre father that I’m rectifying now that I’m sober and 70. I’m dating a woman who knows my basics and we're very compatible. She was a drinker too but doesn’t have the baggage I have. I’m afraid that baring my soul will scare her away.
Dear Bear, Early dates are about putting your best foot forward, and the more you like what you see, the more trust and love deepens. Some equate falling in love to an intimate dance. You balance reveal and withhold, listening and speaking of joys and wounds, communication without words but with trust and compassion. Agree that the relationship only will be truthful, touch your partner often, and the rest will follow naturally. -SQ
