Dear S. Q. My partner and I text a lot but I get frustrated. If I show or ask 3 things, he doesn’t answer all 3. So I break it down to one text per issue; sometimes he answers, or I text again. I showed him an example of his non-responses and why I was irked. He said he answered the ones that were relevant! I said, “does that mean the other 2 aren’t relevant, or I’m irrelevant for asking?” He laughed and I almost killed him! Help.
Dear Venus, Sometimes it feels like our partners are from another planet, speaking a foreign tongue. You’re on the right track, -take a recent example; break it down line-by-line to exactly where the miscommunication is: his, NO RESPONSE. Devise a solution to this specific problem; it can be as simple as: you, 1 issue per text = his, ✓ or 👍 (meaning he received it, nothing more). Fool around with this problem with humor.
