Brazen Fraud and Identity Theft

Dear S.Q. “Capital One” sent me an email that my credit card needed up updated address and household income. I called their customer service, and they said it was fraud. I get daily email that my credit card payment was declined for something I never bought, or I've won (just answer a few financial questions). Sirius FX, Cloud Storage, and Norton Security are daily scams. My phone has safeguards that dump scam directly to my trash but these thieves are getting so sophisticated. Help!

Dear scam bait, 2025 showed record financial losses to all age groups. How? Monthly robocalls and scam texts are in the B-B-Billions! A.I. has allowed criminals to create realistic voice clones to impersonate your relative needing money, your own bank asking for bank information, and businesses/government agencies (IRS threatening to do unthinkable damage). What to do? Don't answer the phone unless you know the caller; let it go to voicemail. Many scammers won't leave a message. If a message is left to call back someone that sounds legitimate, (your bank, a company, or credit card company) don't call back the number they left you but use the number on your billing statement or listed on their website. How to block scam calls? Register on the National Do Not Call Registry to stop legitimate telemarketers. ✔ downloadable call-blocking phone apps like Truecaller or Nomorobo for advanced filters. Report fraud to the FTC. -SQ
