Why Can’t Men Plan Social Events?

Dear S.Q. My husband, like my father, my brothers -well, actually every adult male I know, can’t social plan worth a damn. I do ALL schedules in the marriage from picking the doctors, running the carpools, planning vacations. How do I quit whining?

Dear Planner, Excellent question because whining is an annoying emotion that solves nothing. Apparently, you are better at planning, so those tasks fall to you. If you insist on sharing these tasks, tell your husband what exactly to do (narrow down the doctors list and tell him to pick one); reward his baby steps. Otherwise, appreciate the things your husband does solo for the family that brings balance. -SQ
