Dear Suze, I’m worried about my 30-year-old daughter who’s in a slump. She sleeps a lot, enjoys little, cries a bunch. Her 2 part-time jobs zap her energy, her boyfriend’s a student and lazy, she’s got migraines her MD hasn't cured.
Dear Grandpa, Depression is a clinical term and often there’s a strong family history. Check with an MD or mental health counselor to diagnose and treat with medication and/or behavior (or other) therapy. Slump is a not-real term for sudden/severe change in daily functioning. Either way, she needs help, and probably major life changes.
SEALs call this Principle 6: break things. Like Churchill said, “Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.” Break inertia with decisive action (get new job, boyfriend, doctor). Totally commit to a plan and solutions. Navigate gaps for opportunity. Excel in chaos. -SQ
