2 Sides Of Me

Dear Suze Q. I was raised that appearances are everything, and something is real only if both parties agree, otherwise it’s an illusion. This works well in bullshitting my way through business and most of life but I’m illiterate about love. My only real relationships are with people who have nothing to lose, and who don’t tiptoe around my big ego. How to blend both worlds?

Dear Illusionist, Your work life is smoke and mirrors; he who cons best, wins. Love is not a contest or conquest. It’s giving of yourself even with nothing to win. To trust another when you might fail. To open yourself up to vulnerability in order to learn resilience. You probably can’t blend your two worlds: work and love, because there are distinctively 2 of you -the cut-throat businessman or the wannabe romantic. Time for self-exploration and soul integration. A therapist can save you time to become one person and reach your goals. -SQ
