Dear Suze Q. My partner and I are in our 60s and never were super tech savvy. When FaceBook announced it would no longer fact check and other media outlets leaped off the cliff of credibility, we’ve banned with friends and family to share sources we trust. Do you agree with our Magnificent 7? Snopes.com “is a website that verifies or debunks urban legends, rumors, and misinformation on the internet,” according to Wikipedia. In existence since 1994, it’s considered “well regarded” as a truth sayer. Six other “great” fact-checking sites, according to AI (data searches) and MUO (makeuseof.com), are FactCheck (free), Suds, TruthOrFiction, VeriFact, FactCheck, and Chrome.
Dear Truth Seeker. Excellent sources all. The unregulated internet and unscrupulous politics makes “trust but verify” critical. -SQ
