Dear S.Q. In my early 40s, I’ve had endometriosis for 2 years, pain beyond imagination, mostly around my periods. My husband wants kids but our busy careers never left much room. Medication hasn’t worked so my options are surgery or have a child. My husband says he’ll support my decision, but our sex life is already iffy, and I think divorce is on his mind.
Dear Compromised, Your pain and sex life may improve with surgery or childbirth. Or if childbirth is unsuccessful, then surgery. Question is, will your marriage improve with or without a child. A child will change your life forever but shouldn’t be the reason why your married life soars or crashes. Have a life-changing love talk creating a pros/cons list together with everything on the line. -SQ
