Dear S.Q. I pick my fights but it’s hard to ignore little shit things that he repeatedly does, particularly using the last of the toilet paper. I complain, I joke, I ask sweetly, but nothing changes.
Dear Sweetly, I could recommend purging stored disturbances from your mind through mindfulness, or this practical solution: 1) identify the irritating problem (not replacing the toilet roll); 2) use a behavioral technique called “thought stopping.” As soon as you realize the problem, STOP! thinking further about it. Instead, say out loud or to yourself what to do, “change the toilet roll myself.” Tip: keep new toilet rolls within arms reach, in a decorative basket or t.p. holder. -SQ
