Dear Suze, I’m a statistic! Not only as a divorced older woman, but as an idiot that married a Trump supporter. I thought he was cute, but naïve, 25 years ago that he rarely watched the news and only had a surface understanding of world events. He voted for Obama, so when he refused to accept Harris as a qualified presidential candidate because of her gender and color, I was appalled. But, it got worse as Trump got more brazen with breaking the law and brutalizing everyone who wasn’t a white male. My adult kids hate Dad and there’s nothing I can or want to do to mend their relationship. Am I a bad mother?
Dear Mom, If your adult children are happy, healthy, and good-hearted, then you’ve done a fine job of raising them. It’s up to them to make mature, independent decisions and relationships -even with their dad. If they want your help, support them in being true to themselves while making decisions they won’t easily regret. -SQ
