SMART Goals

Dear Suze Q. I am bound and determined to lose weight before joining a dating app. I figure even if dating is horrid, I’ll have lost the weight. My sister will be my buddy to keep each other accountable and weigh-in together every morning. Any tips?

Dear Determined, Try SMART goal-setting: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time-bound. Ex: Specific: lose 5 lbs in 5 weeks by eating 500 less calories daily. Measurable: chart daily weigh-ins. Attainable: yes, my sister’s there to help. Realistic: yes. Time-bound: yes, only 35 days, you can do it! Then set a new 5-week goal to keep that weight off by continuing your daily weigh-ins, and cut more calories if your weight creeps back up. -SQ
