Dear Suze, I’m shy and lonely, and I let guys on my on-line dating app know. But rather than say, “yeah, me too,” some dominate the conversation with how it’s a male epidemic unique to them. I can’t compete with these blubbering guys, like it defines them.
Dear Shy, Many studies debunk that there’s a loneliness epidemic, much less special to males. Where this junk science originated from -who knows. It is true that more loneliness was reported by both sexes, of all ages, and cultures during the COVID pandemic, but many studies show that loneliness levels have stabilized. Loneliness is, and always has been, a serious social problem that requires solutions, -but that’s a whole other topic. Since you’re shy and sometimes lonely, stay away from blubberers and wallowers, they’ll only bring you down. Find the guys that are interested in you. -SQ
