Dear S.Q. I’m having a ball with a guy I’ve dated a while. I’m ok that it’s getting serious and exclusive, but it would be too much to live together. I feel like I have to squeeze in time to be by myself. I don’t want to lie to him to be alone, and I don’t want to hurt his feelings, but it seems we’re ALWAYS together. Where’s the line?
Dear Squeezed, Is he trying to restrict your freedom or get you to do things you don’t want? Think carefully, because these are not the same thing. If he wants togetherness, make sure it’s something you both want to do. Do things apart and together so you keep your identity by setting limits. -SQ
