Dear Suze Q. I come from a long line of military, police, and first responders. Accepting responsibility and anticipating consequences for your actions is as ingrained as breathing. Most of my dates say I exhaust them because I get stuff done, but sometimes I get barked at for asking forgiveness not permission. I’m looking for a woman who understands my way of thinking.
Dear Responder, Grace Hopper is credited with originating this phrase in the early 1980s, as an unconventional, unaccepted, pioneering female computer scientist, and later a U.S. Navy Admiral who needed quick action at times. She blazed trails and accepted responsibility for the consequences, many for the greater good. If you can justify your reasons, take sole responsibility for how they turn out, and be on the right side of history, then go for it. Otherwise, follow protocol. Rules are (usually) made for a reason. Lots of women are efficient thinkers and doers. Keep looking. -SQ
