The most dangerous time is when you physically try to leave, so keep your head on a swivel and be suspicious of everything until you are safe. Domestic Violence Service Network, Inc. estimated that victims return to their abusers 7 times before the final exit (maybe testing the water on each escape? Also probably royally pissing off the abuser when the victim comes back and lies that the future will be better).
