Dear Suze Q. I popped $20 bucks for a Speed-Dating Over 60s event at the Hilton Hotel. I was nervous but had a blast. 10 minutes with each of 10 lovely ladies! Afterwards, the sponsors tallied our notes, and matched up the women and men who wanted to see each other again. I have a date next week with the only woman I matched. I’ve signed up with a different company next week. What improvement can I make for my pitch?
Dear Speedster, Rather than have a planned speech about yourself or a list of questions rehearsed in your head to ask each female, authenticity and spontaneity is the key in your lightning-rounds. Be in the moment and flow. Easy topics are hobbies, family, careers, reason for dating: companionship/romance/marriage. Relax, go slow, no one likes a hyperactive motor-mouth. -SQ
