Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS)

Dear Suze Q., My wife was recently diagnosed with RLS. For years she’s complained, mostly at night that both her legs ached and sometimes itched. Not on the skin, but inside the leg. Walking around helps, but sometimes it wakes her from a solid sleep. It isn’t debilitating, but it scares us. Finally a doctor took it seriously and found an iron deficiency. I just wanted to share.

Dear Sharing, RSL affects as much as 10% of the US population according to an 2024 article by webmd.com and tends to worsen at night and with age. Causes are unclear as are treatment, but it can negatively affect the quality of life. Good for you there was an easy treatment, but undiagnosed and untreated, this is nothing to screw around with. If you suspect anything persistent and out of the ordinary, always see your MD. -SQ
