Dear SQ, I get so many scams that it's hard to recognize what's real. Emails that my computer automatically dumps into junk or trash files, messages on my phone from someone unknown, and social media is the worst with, "hey, John, I don't mean to bother you, but you're so funny and smart, I think we should meet, then marry, I'll get my green card or steal your bank account information, and I'll live happily ever after." The crap is increasing, and now the truth is called "fake" by those that don't like it. I worry about harm to kids and grandkids.
Dear John, Dishonesty has existed since Man walked this earth. Phishing is the newest get-rich scam involving international thieves. It’s everywhere and terrifying. Defined as the fraudulent practice of sending emails alleged from real companies with the intent of stealing your personal and financial information and identity. The Federal Trade Commission website of the United States provides information about how to recognize and protect yourself, including security tips. Stay sharp. -SQ
