Dear Suze Q. I took classes after retirement and chuckled when writing romance short stories. They’re pretty smutty in parts but total fun. I’ve even won some local contests. I’m looking for an agent or publisher and had a college girlfriend critique them. She was so disgusted she said she quit reading half-way through. I’m pissed. And hurt.
Dear Romance Writer, Since she focused on the smut, totally forgetting how friends support friends through mild and wild, I wonder how true a friend she ever was? Congrats on expanding your horizons that your old buddy failed to see. Contrary to her injured sensibilities, and exemplified by your writing contest wins, romance novels are fabulously popular. But, as a writer you must develop a thick skin because you’ll always have critics -prudes, moral morons, even old friends you need to drop. -SQ
