Dear SQ, I'm a retired old bird, a widower of 10 years with grown kids and grandkids. Others see me as a role-model. I emerged from my heart attack years ago a better and more enlightened man. I write to you anonymously because there is no one I can confide that I'm ready to love some woman but I'm scared of my own mortality.
Dear Scared. It's a very brave attitude and insightful self-journey you've begun. Continue. Ask yourself how expansive is your heart, physically and romantically? Are you rigid or open to differences? Do you want a comfortable woman or do you need passion? Be honest. You have your lifetime of baggage, some you'll shared quickly and some you'll withhold until you know it's safe to trust and not scare her away. She has the same fears. Assess each day with her like a book -enjoy each page, one at a time, as it holds you in its magic. You'll soon know if you love the book, or her, or need to replace it. -SQ
