AARP's Dos and Don'ts of Old Folks First Date

Dear Suz, My girlfriend recommended I follow the tips in aarp.org July 09, 2024 article by Sheryl Jean "7 Dos and 7 Don'ts for a First Date as an Older Adult." What do you think?

Dearie, I agree with all the DO'S: 1. be upbeat and confident; 2. use "welcoming" body language; 3. be honest; 4. equally carry a conversation; 5. keep the date short -about 2 hrs.; 6. pick an activity where you can talk; 7. agree who pays. I agree with most DON'TS: 1. Don't greet with a handshake; 2. Don't discuss your personal "horribles" or use them as a future measurement; 3. Don't be inflexible -yes. But DO enforce your deal breakers, example: exclude those that live too far, wrong body dimensions; 4. Don't get distracted -yes. But don't bring your phone? -absolutely f*ucking not (emergencies happen!); 5. Be safe -yes. But don't give your last name? No -contradicts "Do 3 -be honest;" 6. Don't worry (much) if no instant chemistry; 7. Be caution about having sex on a first date -yes. Carry condoms. -SQ
