Dear Suze, I took a gal to Oktoberfest and she got drunk as a skunk. I had to carry her home, fighting me to stay. She was embarrassed and sorry afterwards and said she doesn’t usually drink. I’m confused, it’s the 3rd time in our 6 months of dating.
Dear Confused. Her words don’t match her actions. Are there others that she knows who will tell you the truth? I’d guess -she’s lying (to you and/or herself), denying (a serious drinking problem), or against all odds, you hit the only 3 days where she was blind-drunk. Don’t be confused. All red flags signal you have a serious drinker on your hands. Also, don’t be confused that you can save her from her self-destructive behavior. Seems stupid for you to continue the relationship unless you’re an alcoholic too and plan to spiral into hell with her. -SQ
