Dear Suze, not a dating but a parenting problem. My wife and I support each other in front of our teens, but… We ate at Dodie’s Place in Allen, TX and the bathroom doors killed me. Bruce Jenner in a victory pose on the cover of Sports Illustrated (1976) on the Men’s; Caitlin Jenner on the cover of Vanity Fair (2015) was on the Women’s. My wife thought it was okay. I was upset because it was blasphemy and not consistent with our fundamental Christian values.
Dear Christian, I recommend you and your wife agree to disagree, and IF your kids ask why, tell them. Your teens should be encouraged to think for themselves at this age WHEN fully informed of all aspects of a controversy. Additional info: the restaurant owners put out a statement that the intent was to stimulate important discussions to unite us all as part of the human race. Caitlin Jenner’s response was, “Funny as hell.” And don’t forget the Christian proverb, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” -SQ
