Dear Suze, I really like this woman I met on FaceBook dating site and we're supposed to meet next weekend. We've talked on the phone for hours and she seems compatible except that she finishes my sentences for me, and usually it's not what I was going to say. It was funny at first, but now it's just plain annoying. It sounds petty but it grates on me.
Dear Grated, Yes, little annoyances often are like a pebble in your shoe. Until it's removed, not only are you uncomfortable, but it's all you can concentrate on. Rocky way to start a relationship. Tons of reasons could be the cause of this rude, interrupting behavior, but just focus on getting rid of it. Ask her politely to stop finishing your sentences for you, and hopefully, this will do the trick. If she can't, or won't, then you have choices: (1) suck it up (not recommended), (2) move on, or (3) continue dating to see if this pebble is one of many in a gravel pit of annoyances, and if so, then move on. -SQ
