Aren't Men Curious About Women?

Dear Suze Q. I'm tired of hearing the same old broken record when meeting new men. They talk about themselves, exaggerating their finances, and minimizing their age and faults.  And they ask fuckall about me. What gives?

Dear Tired, Like women, many men are nervous on the first face-to-face. The phone conversations and texts were easier. With anxiety, many men start babbling like a sales pitch, and what easier topic than themselves. Women are usually good listeners, so we fall into listening and the whole balance of shared 2-way conversation, give and take of information, is off to a rocky start. Men are curious about women, but also intimidated, and often clueless how to have a genuine conversation rather than soppy pick-up lines and monologues. Insert yourself where you can, see how a second date goes, and if the same self-centered presentation occurs, walk away. It probably won’t improve. -SQ
