$120 For First Dinner Date

Dear S.Q. I’ve asked a woman to dinner for our first date in San Francisco. We’ve talked for days and I could easily love this one -if the planets align. I agreed to pay even though she offered to split the cost. She picked a ritzy restaurant that is one of my favorites but that I reserve for special occasions since it is expensive. What should I look for?

Dear Cautious, Hopefully, this is a good sign that she picked a restaurant you reserve for special occasions. Some useful info: a normal first dinner date averages around $120. Channel 4 News recently reported a survey that 11% of the dinner dates ordered more/most expensive food on the menu, but 50% make a point of ordering less expensive meals, -an indicator if your date is budget conscious, or if gouging you is her M.O. -SQ
