Dear Suze Q. I’m so confused. I’m married with children and everyone I grew up with lives nearby. It’s no joke that there’s practically a church on every corner. Charlie Kirk’s murder has sparked hell-fire sermons and polarized families. Trump’s no Christian and Kirk had awful things to say about minorities. I’m told to go along or I’ll go to hell.
Dear Confused, Perhaps get support from a trustworthy, open-minded source outside your small world that will help you think independently and critically, and define “hell.” Many people follow the Golden Rule in its broadest form of “…love thy neighbor as thyself,” (Leviticus 19:18) even though they aren’t religious. Breaking away from a group mentality is difficult, it requires conviction to know, and remain true to yourself. -SQ
