Dear Suze, My sister has dementia and Parkinson’s. She believes her dead husband is in the nursing home with her. Should I try to snap her out of it or join her in her craziness?
Dear Sis, Top priority is for both of you to be calm and follow the staff's advice. Are her meds adjusted? Some can control the tremors of Parkinson’s OR the delusions, but not both. If she has severe dementia, there maybe no point in forcing her to accept reality or talk her out of her delusions. Best to be a good listener and nod at the right places. -SQ
