Dear Suze Q. I’m in my 70s and live alone and am thinking of buying a gun that I will keep loaded. I was raised with guns, and while married we also had guns. Any problem?
Dear 70. Keeping a loaded gun at home depends on your laws and personal preferences, experience, and comfort level. If you have children, or others in the home beside yourself, the danger of gun accidents increases -again, check your local laws. Your experience and comfort may be rusty, so practice safe shooting often. Make a gun your friend, not your deadly enemy because of your incompetence to use it. Hundreds of people die yearly of accidental gun-related injuries. Don't add to these numbers. -SQ
