Shallow v Deep Thinkers

Dear Suze Q. I’m appalled at the arguing in internet chat groups. The huge contrast between the idiots and the educated/informed is like they’re speaking different languages.

Dear Appalled, These two groups talk differently because they think differently. Let’s describe shallow and deep thinkers:

Shallow: make judgements based on appearances versus Deep: make judgements based on values (empathetic, friendly, kind).

Shallow: gather information that supports their way of thinking versus Deep: gather information to understand all sides of the issue.

Shallow: believe without verification versus Deep: believe after gathering information from several sources, critically think and analyze.

Shallow: talk a lot without listening versus Deep: listen and question in order to understand.

Shallow: justify their rude actions versus Deep: avoid rude actions by thinking ahead and anticipating consequences.

Shallow: strongly believe they are right because their facts are indisputable even when they are proven wrong versus Deep: strongly support their opinions after rigorous research, and then save room for new information to be considered. -SQ
