Dear S.Q. I’m retired and dating again in my early 70s, and wondering why I bother. Knees don’t work well so biking, hiking, pickleball are out. Hearing is mostly shot which eliminates movies, loud restaurants, and crowds. Stamina is iffy.
Dear Bothered. Living means changing. For 70 years, did you bitch or embrace this fact? Now is your 3rd and final act on this earth. (#1: ages 0-30 -young and dumb; #2: ages 30-60 -midlife, stability. Got the job, the spouse, kids/grandkids, divorce/remarriage, retirement. #3: 60-death -finale, fun time -healthy enough, financial security, maturity). Get creative. Review your life, finish what is still unfinished, revisit the paths you forgot you loved. -SQ
