Dear Suz, Our daughter has decided to live with her boyfriend from college rather than get married. Good, bad idea?
Dear Good, Bad. Good idea, generally. Without the old stigma of "living in sin," more modern norms are to "drive the car, or try on the shoe, before buying it." Living together is an immersive experience to really know your partner, and to work out the kinks that will boost the odds of a happily-forever-after committed relationship. Walking away after marriage has heavy consequences: alimony, child support, pregnancy/child rearing, that might be avoided if living together is a bust. -SQ
