Dear Suze Q. I’m mad at my husband, again, and I’m not sure why. Or what to do. I’ve been pretty vocal about the out-of-town show I want to see next month for my birthday. He says “sure” every time I bring it up, but the time gets closer and I hear nothing. A surprise would be great if he got the tickets, hotel room, & babysitter, but I know he doesn’t even remember what date it is. -Frustrated and sad, maybe even mad. Pissed actually.
Dear Pissed. Glad you got that emotion clarified. Now do the same with identifying what exactly is the problem. Do you want him to do all the work so you’ll be surprised? If so, his past performance is your best predictor if that’s likely to happen. If he’s pulled off a BIG SURPRISE 🎂 🎉 before, then roll the dice and wait. Or do you want to go to the show? Make the reservations yourself in plenty of time to cancel if he comes through in shining armor on his white horse. -SQ
